Ingredients
- Green Peas (fresh) - 1 cup
- Tomato (chopped) - 4
- Onion(sliced)- 1
- Cooking Oil - 1 tablespoon
- Butter or Ghee - 1 tablespoon and another tablespoon of butter for garnishing.
- Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
- Cloves - 4
- Cumin - 1 teaspoon
- Cashew nuts - 1/4 teaspoon
- Ginger Garlic Paste - 1 teaspoon
- Turmeric Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Red Chili Powder - 1 1/2 teaspoon
- Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Garam Masala Powder - 1/4 teaspoon
- Salt as per taste
- Fresh Coriander Leaves - 1 tablespoon and little more for garnishing
Direction/Method
- Use 1 cup of either fresh green peas or frozen green peas for this recipe.
- First, blend 1 sliced onions using a blending jar.
- Add little bit of water to blend sliced onions into a fine puree.
- When the puree is ready, transfer it into a bowl.
- In the same jar, add 4 chopped tomatoes and add little water to blend them into a fine puree.
- When the tomato puree is ready, transfer it into a bowl.
- Next, in a wok, add 1 tablespoon of cooking oil and add 1 tablespoon of butter.
- Allow the butter to melt on a medium flame.
- When the butter is melted, add 2 cinnamon sticks, 4 to 5 cloves, 1 teaspoon of cumin seeds, and 1/4 cup of cashew nuts.
- Fry them lightly.
- Add 1 teaspoon of ginger garlic paste and mix it well until the raw smell comes out.
- Next, add onion puree and mix it well.
- Sauté the onion puree for a minute.
- Add 1/4 teaspoon of turmeric powder, 1 1/2 teaspoon of red chili powder, and 1 teaspoon of Coriander powder.
- Mix it well and sauté them for few seconds.
- Add tomato puree and mix it well.
- Allow them to cook for about 3 minutes on a low flame.
- Add salt as per taste and mix it well.
- Add green peas and mix them well.
- Add little bit of water to adjust the consistency of the curry and mix it well
- Close the wok with a lid and cook it for about 10 minutes.
- Open the lid and check if the green peas are cooked.
- When green peas are cooked, add 1/4 teaspoon of garam masala powder and 1 tablespoon of finely chopped coriander leaves.
- Mix it well and switch off the flame.
- The Green Peas Curry is ready to be served.
