ButterMilk




Buttermilk is one of the dairy drink. It is the left over liquid after churning butter out of cream. It is one of the fermented milk drinks which is drank commonly in warm climates, It is popular in Middle East, India and Southern United States.

Buttermilk is the best summer coolant and very healthy drink for the human health. Yogurt is the main ingredient in preparation of Buttermilk and it is a low fat drink. Yogurt is rich in calcium which is digestible by human body.

Buttermilk is very simple to prepare and a very old recipe in India. Buttermilk is also made during all religious occasions in India. Buttermilk is also mixed with rice and served in a full meal in India. Buttermilk is prepared using Yogurt either commercially purchased from a store or from the Yogurt made in home.

Below are the Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup of yogurt
  • 1 cup of cold water
  • Salt as per taste
  • 1/4 teaspoon roasted cumin powder and black pepper powder
  • finely chopped green chilies
  • finely chopped ginger
  • finely chopped onion
  • mint leaves (for garnishing)
  • coriander leaves (for garnishing)

Method / Directions
  1. Take 1/2 cup of yogurt and add it to a mixer.
  2. Add finely chopped onion.
  3. Add finely chopped green chilly.
  4. Add 1/4 teaspoon of of roasted cumin powder and black pepper powder.
  5. Add finely chopped ginger
  6. Add salt as per taste.
  7. Add a cup of cold water.
  8. Blend the ingredients well in the mixer.
  9. Using a strainer, strain the mixture into a bowl.
  10. Put the mixture in a serving glass and garnish it with coriander leaves, mint leaves, a green chili and put the ice cubes.
Alright, the buttermilk is ready to beat the heat in your body.
