Beetroot Chapathi



Beetroot Chapati is very colorful and tasty. This recipe is prepared by adding grated beetroot into the wheat flour and mixed well. The dough is allowed to rest for some time and made into beetroot chapatis. 

This is a healthy, nutrient, red colored roti or chapati recipe made using beetroot. These are perfect for kids or for those adults who do not like to eat this healthy vegetable such as beetroot because it has earthy flavor that many people do not like. 

Ingredients

  1. Wheat flour - 2 cups
  2. Beetroot - 1, grated
  3. Cooking oil - 2 tsp & a little for applying on chapati
  4. Ginger - 1/2 inch, finely chopped
  5. Green chili - 1, chopped
  6. Water - as needed
  7. Cumin powder - 1/4 tsp
  8. Garam masala powder - 1/4 tsp
  9. Carom seeds - 1/4 tsp
  10. Salt - as per taste
  11. Curd - 2 tbsp

Preparation

  1. Take a frying pan and add 2 tsp of cooking oil.
  2. Allow the cooking oil to heat for some time.
  3. When the cooking oil is hot enough, add finely chopped 1/2 inch ginger, a chopped green chili and sauté them well.
  4. Add a grated beetroot and sauté it well for about 2 minutes.
  5. Turn off the flame and allow this veggie mixture to cool down completely.
  6. When this veggie mixture is not hot enough, transfer them into a blending jar and add a little water.
  7. Blend this veggie mixture into a smooth paste and keep it aside.
  8. Take a bowl, add 2 cups wheat flour, 1/4 tsp of cumin powder, 1/4 tsp of garam masala powder, 1/4 tsp of carom seeds and salt as per taste.
  9. Mix these ingredients well.
  10. Add blended veggie mixture, 2 tbsp of curd.
  11. Mix them well.
  12. If required, add little water and make a soft chapati dough by kneading the dough well.
  13. Apply little oil on top of the dough and cover the bowl.
  14. Rest it for 10 minutes.
  15. After 10 minutes, knead the dough again for few seconds and make a small sized dough balls.
  16. Take a chapati roller, dust a little wheat flour and place the dough ball on the roller
  17. Roll it gently as a thick chapati.
  18. Dust the extra flour
  19. Heat the tawa and add a little cooking oil.
  20. When the oil is hot enough, place the rolled chapati.
  21. Cook it on both sides by applying cooking oil on both sides.
  22. That's it! Beetroot Chapati is ready. 
It is an ideal morning breakfast which can also be had for afternoon lunch and night dinner. It is generally eaten and served with pickle and raita (dahi), but can also be served with any chutney or gravy based curries.

Paneer Curry (dhaba-style)


Dhaba style Paneer Curry is one of the popular gravy served with naan in most highways or road-side eatery joints. Dhaba style Paneer Curry is spicy and the flavors are awesome. It is easy to make at home and you can adjust the spice level as per you liking.

Ingredient

  1. Paneer - 200 grams, cut into cubes
  2. Ginger garlic paste - 1/2 tsp + 1 tsp
  3. Red chili powder - 1/2 tsp + 1 tsp
  4. Salt - as per taste
  5. Cooking oil - 2 tsp + 2 tbsp
  6. Ghee - 1 tbsp
  7. Cumin - 1 tsp
  8. Bay leaf - 1
  9. Green cardamom - 2
  10. Cinnamon stick - 1 inch
  11. Cloves - 4
  12. Onion - 1 big, finely chopped
  13. Green chili - 2, sliced
  14. Turmeric powder - 1/4 tsp
  15. Coriander powder - 1 tsp
  16. Garam masala powder - 1/2 tsp
  17. Cumin powder - 1/2 tsp
  18. Pepper powder - 1/2 tsp
  19. Tomato puree - 1,1/2 cup
  20. Curd - 1/2 cup, whisked
  21. Water - as needed
  22. Coriander leaves - few, chopped

Direction / Method

  1. Take a frying pan and add 2 tsp of cooking oil.
  2. Heat the cooking oil on a low flame.
  3. Add paneer cubes, 1/2 tsp of red chili powder, little salt and 1/2 tsp of ginger garlic paste.
  4. Sauté the paneer cubes for two minutes on a low flame and keep them aside.
  5. Take another frying pan.
  6. Add 2 tbsp of cooking oil and 1 tbsp of ghee.
  7. Allow the ghee melt on a low flame.
  8. Add a tsp of cumin, a bay leaf, 2 green cardamom, 1 inch of cinnamon stick, and 4 cloves,
  9. Sauté them until they become aromatic.
  10. Add an onion which is finely chopped and sauté them until onions gets golden brown.
  11. Add 2 green chilies which has been sliced into half and a tsp of ginger garlic paste.
  12. Sauté them well.
  13. Add 1/4 tsp of turmeric, 1 tsp red chili powder, 1/2 tsp of garam masala powder, 1 tsp of coriander powder, 1/2 tsp of pepper powder, and salt to taste.
  14. Mix them well.
  15. Add 1 1/2 cup of tomato puree & mix it well.
  16. Close the lid and cook until oil released on low flame.
  17. Open the lid and give it a mix.
  18. Add 1/2 cup of whisked curd & mix it well.
  19. Add some water to adjust the curry consistency & mix it well.
  20. Close the lid and cook for 5 minutes on low flame.
  21. Open the lid and give it a mix
  22. Add sautéed paneer cubes and mix them well.
  23. Close the lid and cook for 2 to 3 minutes on low flame.
  24. Open the lid and finally add few chopped coriander leaves.
  25. Mix it well.
  26. That's it! dhaba-style Paneer Curry is ready to served.
Serve it hot with parotta, tandoor roti, poori or rice and do try this recipe at home.
